Accessibility Statement
Making the App accessible to people with disabilities matters to us. We work to let everyone use it comfortably and equally, in line with Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998, the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013, and the international accessibility guidelines WCAG 2.1 level AA as they apply to mobile apps.
Accessibility in the App
- Full TalkBack screen-reader support — interactive elements (buttons, tabs, switches, fields) have text labels. Decorative icons are marked so the screen reader skips them.
- Text size — the App respects the system font size (up to 200%), and also lets you choose a font size and a separate zoom for the siddur and books. Texts were checked so they aren't cut off when enlarged.
- Font choice — choose the regular system font (recommended for readability) or decorative fonts.
- Contrast and dark/light mode — the App follows the device's dark or light mode, with high contrast between text and background on cards.
- Simple navigation — a fixed tab bar at the bottom, clear headings, and touch targets of at least 48dp.
- Alerts — alarms and reminders come with vibration (can be turned off) and a full-screen visual alert.
- Direction — a complete right-to-left Hebrew interface.
- No flashing content and no animations that require a quick response; no time limits on user actions, except the alarm itself.
Accessibility on this website
The site is built with semantic structure (headings, navigation landmarks, alternative text for images), sufficient contrast, full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator, a "skip to content" link, support for zooming up to 200%, and a layout adapted to small screens. It is available in Hebrew and English.
The accessibility button (the round blue icon at the bottom corner of every page) opens a menu for people with low vision and other needs:
- Text size — enlarge up to 175%.
- High contrast — white text on black, links in yellow.
- Grayscale — for color-vision differences or light sensitivity.
- Highlight links — every link underlined and bold.
- Readable font — a plain font with wider letter, word and line spacing.
- Stop animations — all motion and transitions off (also applied automatically when the device asks for reduced motion).
- Large cursor.
- Reset — back to the default view. Your choices are remembered in your browser for next time.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts may not be fully accessible:
- Long texts from the siddur and Sefaria are shown as continuous text; heading navigation inside them is limited.
- With the decorative fonts (handwriting, STaM), screen-reader output is correct but visual readability is lower than the system font. We recommend the default font.
- The "auto-scroll" reading feature needs a tap to stop.
- Maps and navigation open in external apps, whose accessibility we don't control.
- The App's interface is in Hebrew only.
We keep improving accessibility in every version. If you run into a difficulty, we'd be glad to hear about it and fix it.
